Proper Weather And Temperature Windows
We do not stripe in conditions that compromise adhesion. Pavement temperature, dew point and moisture are checked, because material that fails in six months costs more than a delayed start.

To keep every driver, cyclist and pedestrian oriented and protected by delivering markings and signs that are correctly placed, properly applied and measurably visible at night.
Who We Are
Gästrike Trafikmålning is a pavement marking and traffic signage contractor working for transportation agencies, municipalities, airports and private property owners. Our crews apply thermoplastic, waterborne paint, epoxy, methyl methacrylate and preformed tape markings, remove obsolete markings by grinding or waterblasting, and install sign assemblies from small regulatory plates to large overhead guide signs. We keep application trucks, layout equipment and sign fabrication support under one roof, which means we can control quality from surface preparation and glass bead selection to final inspection. Every project follows a written layout plan, material certifications and a closeout package with measured retroreflectivity readings.
Visibility is a safety feature, and Gästrike Trafikmålning approaches it that way for and neighboring communities. We schedule striping in the temperature and moisture windows that materials require, apply wet-film thickness to specification and verify bead embedment before traffic returns. Our sign crews inspect posts, breakaway hardware and sheeting condition as they work, flagging issues before they become complaints or liability. The result is a marking and signage program that agencies can defend in an audit and motorists can read at night.

Our Mission
To give public and private owners a contractor who documents materials, measures performance and treats traffic control device compliance as a core part of the job.

Our Advantages
We do not stripe in conditions that compromise adhesion. Pavement temperature, dew point and moisture are checked, because material that fails in six months costs more than a delayed start.
Handheld and mobile retroreflectometers confirm that markings and sign faces meet required minimum values, so compliance is documented with readings and not guessed from a drive-by.
Lane closures are expensive and unpopular. Fully equipped crews work overnight and in compressed windows, leaving the road open and the markings cured by morning traffic.
We bring trained flaggers, arrow boards and barricades matched to approved plans, protecting both the public and the workers who share the pavement.
Our layout crews understand the manual on line widths, skip patterns, no-passing zones, crosswalks and sign placement, and they flag design conflicts before material goes down.
Batch certifications for thermoplastic, beads, paint and sheeting are retained and supplied at closeout, giving owners a record that supports warranty claims and agency reviews.
Setups are designed, installed and inspected by our own people against the approved plan, so the work zone is safe and the closure matches the permit.
Readings are taken with calibrated equipment and recorded by location, so your markings and signs meet the standard on paper and after dark on the road.
Batch and lot records are kept against each section installed, so a premature failure can be traced to material rather than argued about.
Compliance
Traffic control is ours, so lane closures match the approved plan.
Sectors
State, county and municipal agencies hold different marking material standards.
Client Feedback
They striped our entire resurfacing program inside a tight window and the lines looked sharp at night. The retroreflectivity readings came with the closeout package, which saved us an extra testing contract.
Our sign inventory had been a mystery for years. Their team mapped every sign, graded the sheeting and gave us a replacement schedule we could actually fund over three budget cycles.
The parking garage restriping was phased so cleanly that our tenants barely noticed. Accessible stalls and wayfinding were laid out right the first time, and inspectors had no comments.
Send Gästrike Trafikmålning your road list or plan set and we will propose materials, a schedule and a closeout package with measured retroreflectivity.

Layout is drawn from approved plans and the current MUTCD, so lane widths, crosswalk geometry, stop bar placement and sign mounting heights are right the first time and hold up in review.
Our Services

Hot-applied thermoplastic lines, legends and symbols placed at specified thickness with drop-on glass beads for retroreflection, on both asphalt and concrete surfaces. We prepare the pavement, apply primer where required, monitor surface and ambient temperature and finish with a durable marking suited to high-volume corridors, intersections and long-term lane delineation.
Request a Quote
Installation of preformed plastic and tape markings for crosswalks, stop bars, bike lane symbols, arrows and word legends where precision or fast return to traffic matters. We follow MUTCD geometry for high-visibility crosswalk patterns, set transverse markings back from signals and stop signs correctly and inspect adhesion after the first traffic exposure.
Request a Quote
Field collection of sign type, condition, sheeting grade, location and measured retroreflectivity, delivered as a searchable inventory with photographs. Agencies use the data to build compliant replacement plans, document a management method under MUTCD minimum retroreflectivity guidance and prioritize limited budgets on the signs that matter most.
Request a Quote
Removal of conflicting or obsolete markings through grinding, shot blasting or high-pressure waterblasting, with vacuum recovery of debris where required. Proper removal matters during traffic shifts and staging; ghost lines left on the pavement confuse drivers, so we remove the full marking without gouging the surface more than necessary.
Request a Quote
Furnishing and installing stop, yield, speed limit, warning and route guide signs on driven posts, concrete foundations and structural supports. We follow MUTCD size, color, lateral offset and mounting height requirements, use breakaway hardware where roadside safety standards call for it and record each installation with location and sheeting type.

Erection of cantilever and span sign structures, installation of extruded aluminum guide sign panels and maintenance of lighting and mounting hardware. Work is staged under lane closures with certified rigging and lifting plans, and structure attachments are torqued and inspected according to the engineer of record.

Striping of parking structures, retail lots, school campuses, warehouse yards and airfield surfaces, including accessible stall layouts, directional arrows, fire lanes and safety zones. Airfield work follows aviation marking standards with approved materials, and facility work is scheduled around operating hours to keep disruption to a minimum.

Fast-curing waterborne traffic paint for routine restriping cycles and two-component epoxy for applications that demand higher durability. Our striping trucks deliver consistent line width, wet-film thickness and bead distribution, and we mark center, edge, lane and no-passing zone lines according to the approved layout and applicable standards.

We review plans, survey existing markings and signs, note pavement condition and mark out the new layout with chalk or paint. Questions about geometry or conflicts are resolved with the engineer before work starts.
Pavement is cleaned, old markings are removed where needed and the right material is chosen for traffic volume, surface type and service life, with primers and beads specified for the job.
Markings are applied at specified thickness and signs are erected at the correct height and offset. Crews run quality checks as they go, including wet-film measurements and post plumbness.
We inspect the finished work, take retroreflectivity readings, correct deficiencies and hand over material certifications, photographs and an updated inventory.

Read MoreYes. We choose between grinding, shot blasting and waterblasting based on pavement type and marking material. The goal is complete removal of the old line with minimal surface damage, because painting over markings leaves ghost lines that can mislead drivers.
Cure times vary by material. Waterborne paint dries quickly, thermoplastic sets within minutes as it cools and epoxy needs more time. Our crews use coning, tracking prevention and lead-and-follow vehicles to protect new lines until they can handle traffic.
We install and replace signs to agency drawings and the MUTCD, and we can fabricate standard regulatory, warning and guide panels. Custom guide sign layouts are normally developed by the engineer of record, and we coordinate fabrication and installation around that design.
Closeout packages include material certifications for paint, beads, thermoplastic and sheeting, application records, retroreflectivity readings where required, photographs and updated sign inventory data. Owners keep the package as proof of compliance and for future warranty or maintenance needs.
Send Gästrike Trafikmålning your road list or plan set and we will propose materials, a schedule and a closeout package with measured retroreflectivity.

Retroreflectivity is measured, not assumed. Our crews test installed markings and sign faces and deliver readings that show where your assets meet minimum levels and where replacement is due.
Projects & Case Studies

Installation of high-visibility crosswalks, stop bars, green-backed bike lane markings and bicycle symbols across a downtown grid. Preformed tape was used at busy intersections so traffic could return within hours of installation.

Complete restriping of a multi-level public parking structure, including accessible stalls, directional arrows, pedestrian walkways and overhead guide signs. Work was phased by level so the facility remained open throughout the project.

Field inventory of several thousand signs with GPS locations, sheeting condition and retroreflectivity readings, followed by staged replacement of substandard regulatory and warning signs. The agency now manages renewals through a documented program.

Long-line thermoplastic edge and centerline markings applied across a rural highway network after resurfacing, with raised pavement markers at curves. Retroreflectivity readings taken at closeout exceeded the minimum levels specified by the agency.

Retroreflectivity is the ability of a surface to return light from headlights back toward the driver. Markings and sign sheeting lose it over time through wear and weather, reducing night visibility. The MUTCD sets minimum maintained levels for signs, so measurement supports both safety and compliance.
The choice depends on traffic volume, pavement type, climate and desired service life. Waterborne paint suits low-cost restriping on lower-volume roads, thermoplastic and epoxy offer longer life on busy corridors, and preformed tape works well for crosswalks and legends. We recommend a material after reviewing site conditions.

High-visibility patterns, advance stop bars and good lighting work together. Here is how marking choices contribute to pedestrian safety at uncontrolled crossings.

Adhesion problems often trace back to application in poor conditions. We explain how temperature, moisture and surface cleanliness affect long-term marking performance.

The MUTCD gives agencies flexibility in how they maintain sign visibility. We summarize assessment and management methods and what records reviewers expect to see.
